Bardepur

Ethymologically, name of this village has its own importance as the first part of it is "barde or "varde". The history of this village is as such that a cattle market used to be organised on the bank of Jeevachh (river) and the mart was famous for marketing of oxen, for this very reason the place was termed as Baradaha twisted form of Baradahaat. Thus it has taken its first part 'Barde'.

Now some literate villagers, particularly pre-independent people, has been defining the meaning not in accordance with its historical background but totally in a pedantic way. They have just tried to change the meaning of word by replacing B with V,by doing it really the meaning is completely changed, therefore new word beginning with V renders new sense to know the village as a village of knowledge, for varade or Varadaa is synonymous to the goddess of knowledge and art Saraswati.

The last syllable is PUR which is a Sanskrit word for any village or town.History

A little is known about the origin, yet, some tale-tell is really interesting to trace history in its name,as name suggests that it is a place of oxen mart, which would take place once a week on the bank ofjeevechh river.however,it is only a rife thing.no written document nor any authentic source are available to be taken in account for verifying its name.whatsoever is the reason but a little fact is very close to its historical background,as some natives are still engaged in cattle marketing, they are considered the best in their job, as it seems that they are innately gifted with these quality.
Tracing back its history in Mughal period, when the land records were recorded for assessing land-revenue under the ministry of Todar Mal ,the village was termed as a TOLE (टोल), a part of Gram panchayat. The village was then under बछौर परगना .
One thing is also conspicuous for its history"Maithil Brahmin Sabha, Saurath". Maithil Brahmin, till date, follows a tradition of recording their name at Saurath on their marriage. Thus each and every village of Mithilanchal has its written background such as their forefather's native place(मूल),clan (गोत्र ) and any irregularities in their lineage,on this ground Bardepur can be traced back to 14th century A.D.,when the Saurath Sabha came into existence after the approval of the Raj Darbhanga,King HARISINGH DEV,who introducedPanji Prabandh.Geography

Villagetopography is just akin to the characteristic of plain.Agricultural-field is irrigated with a small rivulet, which joining with other rivulets makes an origin point of jeevachh river, one of the famous river in Madhubani district.
western kosi canal is also flowing westward through this village crossing National Highway 105(Darbhanga-Jaynagar).
water bodies are plentiful,however,agro-production is minimal due to atmospheric pollution generated by kiln. Land pollution and depletion of top layer of soil are also the major cause of downfall in crop-yieldings.
Main crops are Paddy and Wheat but Rabi, Kharif and Pulses are also produced.
Farming is practised underBantaai (बंटाई ) system.Mango orchard is also standing in,on and to the every direction of village.
